Year-End Reflection: A Year I Never Saw Coming (But Wouldn’t Change)

Sitting here this morning, coffee in hand, I’m reflecting on 2025 — and honestly, when I started this year, I never could have imagined what it would bring.

This year came with its fair share of downs… but it also gifted me the enormous privilege of walking alongside so many people on their journeys.
Some were hard.
Some were lighter.
Some were messy, emotional, uncomfortable, joyful — and every single one mattered.
Each person showed up with their own story. And each person completed something this year — even if they don’t realise it yet.
The Year in Numbers (Because Apparently I Love Stats)
Let’s start with movement — because movement is kind of my thing.
Celebrating 504 days of movement.
Conscious, intentional daily movement. Some days it was a full workout, some days just a stretch or a walk — but it was planned, it mattered, and it happened.
523 workouts this year alone, including:
106 runs
985km of running
A solid mix of strength training, mobility, other cardio, and walking (because balance).
Then there was the stuff no one puts on a vision board:
2 hospital procedures 7 days in hospital 15 days of radiation treatment for cancer
And just to be clear — we’re not done with that journey yet. Watch this space. We roll on into the first half of 2026 with purpose and optimism.
On the work front:
Around 1,500 client sessions this year — and I genuinely loved every single one of them.
No exaggeration.
No fluff.
It is an absolute privilege to do what I do.
The Stuff That Doesn’t Fit in a Spreadsheet
I also got over myself and actually did a photo shoot with a friend — and loved every second of it.
Turns out stepping outside your comfort zone can be wildly empowering.
That’s definitely something I’ll be doing more of.
I finally got my act together and put my nutrition and training philosophy down on paper with Thrive 180. This project is very much a work in progress — and I’m genuinely excited about where it’s heading.
I wrote 50 blogs for the website this year.
Fifty - Mind Boggles!
And every single week, just when I wondered “What on earth do I write next?” — by grace, it all just happened.
I ran and hiked in places I genuinely cannot describe in words. The kind of places that remind you how small you are — and how lucky you are to move your body through the world.
I spent time with friends. I laughed. I rested. I learned when to push and when to pause.
What This Year Taught Me
What I realise every single day when I wake up is the incredible privilege I have to walk people through their journeys.
But here’s the truth I learned (and re-learned) this year:
Every person on this journey has a responsibility to themselves to step up and show up.
I cannot do it for you.
I can guide.
I can support.
I can encourage.
But I cannot wake up and decide for you to grow.
Growth requires ownership.
Growth means choosing to expand — even when it’s uncomfortable.
Especially when it’s uncomfortable.
Looking Ahead (And If You Feel Like You “Failed”)
If you’re reading this and thinking, “I didn’t do enough this year” — pause right there.
If you showed up on even one hard day, you didn’t fail.
If you learned something about yourself, you didn’t fail.
If you’re still here, still trying, still reading — you didn’t fail.
Progress isn’t built in massive, dramatic moments. It’s built in daily decisions.
Deciding to move your body — even gently. Deciding to nourish yourself — imperfectly. Deciding to try again — tomorrow.
New habits aren’t created by motivation.
They’re created by daily responsibility.
You don’t need a new year to start — but you do need to decide. And then decide again tomorrow And the day after that.
That’s how change sticks.
Here’s to Expansion
So here’s to growth. Here’s to expanding into new versions of ourselves. Here’s to taking responsibility for our own journeys — one decision, one habit, one step at a time.
2026 is already waiting — and I can’t wait to walk into it with you.
💛
A photo highlight of the year.
May 2026 be filled with Grace, Growth and Blessings see you all in 2026!
