Finding Balance Amidst the New Year Rush

The new year kicked off with a bang – work started with a full inbox after the holidays, schools resumed and bombarded the kids with information, your inbox was flooded with even more emails, and January pay month feels like it lasts an eternity! 😅
My head felt like it was about to explode this week – not because I don’t want to work, but because of the overwhelming load of everything happening right now.
So, what do we do about it?
This year, in addition to focusing on the HARD Challenge I’ve set for myself to tackle the habits that negatively affect my health and well-being, I made a conscious decision to make time for a reset and refocus. In the midst of all the chaos, we NEED to carve out space for ourselves. Take that 10 minutes at the end of your day – not to do something that makes the household run, not to handle work, but to do something that makes YOU function better.
For me, the most important part of this reset is staying off my phone and work devices.
Disconnecting from the constant buzz of emails and notifications is key to helping me recharge.

It can be anything that works for you – maybe it’s reading a book, journaling (yes, paper and pen!), sitting down for a cup of herbal tea or coffee (if you're one of those who can handle coffee late!), or even taking a 10-minute soak in a relaxing bath.
The point is, find something that helps you unwind and rejuvenate. Just 10 minutes. That’s all you need to hit the reset button and give yourself the energy to take on everything that comes your way. You deserve it! 💆♀️🌿
JANUARY HARD CHALLENGE UPDATE
I’m one week into this personal challenge, and let me tell you, the first two days were TOUGH. Headaches, fatigue, and constant thirst as my body adjusted and went through a withdrawal process. For me, the hardest part is usually when I’m sitting and working from home – my jaw just wants to move! Luckily, this week was busy, so that wasn’t too much of an issue.
Were there temptations? Oh, absolutely. Loads of them. But I stood my ground, not to prove a point to anyone else, but because I made a promise to myself that I would do this for me.
The positives after week one?

less bloating,
less brain fog
less joint stiffness.
I'm feeling lighter and clearer already!
This upcoming week will be just as busy, and I’m sure it will come with its own set of challenges. But I’m ready to face them head-on. I’ll keep you all posted on my progress!
TRAINING UPDATE For those of you new to my blog, welcome!
One of my core goals is to move every single day. In today’s world, we’re sitting far too much – whether it’s at work, on our phones, or during long commutes – and our bodies are paying the price. That’s why I’ve committed to a daily movement routine, balancing strength training, cardio, and mobility work to ensure that both recovery and growth stay optimal.
Strength training helps build muscle and maintain a strong foundation, while cardio keeps the heart and lungs healthy. Mobility work is just as crucial, as it aids in flexibility, joint health, and overall body movement – which is key for preventing injury and improving performance. Cardio for Cardiovascular health.
It’s all about balance. Each component plays a unique role in achieving well-rounded fitness, and when they work together, they help to maximize both recovery and progress. By dedicating time to each of these areas, I’m able to support my body in the best way possible and make sure I’m not only moving, but moving well.
If you’re looking to build a sustainable fitness routine, I highly recommend finding your own balance between strength, cardio, and mobility – it’s the secret to staying healthy, strong, and feeling great every day. Like 90% of the population, I kicked my training up a notch again this week.
Was it a perfect week? Not by a long shot.
But was it a productive one? Absolutely!
Did I show up and put in the work? Without a doubt.

Sometimes, it’s not about perfection; it’s about consistency and showing up, even when things don’t go exactly as planned. And this week, I did just that.
Monday: Strength Training with a Walk Tuesday: Strength Training
Wednesday: Road Run and Mobility Session
Thursday: Elliptical and Strength
Friday: Bike ride and Strength
Saturday: Road Run
Sunday: Trail Hike Next week I will add back my once a week swim session and expand a bit more on my running goals for the year.
