This week see's 12 weeks post injury. Lots of rain and a nice Weekend Run

Hard to believe that its been 12 weeks since my partial quad tear and all the drama that went with it.
This week has been unusually cold here in Cape Town and honestly any injury does not particularly like the cold.
The rain has come down in buckets and running outside has been a bit like braving rough sea's
BUT - all is well, I am up and running and got in some low effort cycling too this week and couldn't be happier.
Getting into a routine is always the hardest of all.
Most of the training this week was indoors and for a girl that needs fresh air it does become a bit mind numbing.
But like the saying goes. WE put on our big girl panties and get going.
This week's training:
3 lifting sessions
3 Runs -2 treadmill and 1 Outside
2 Low intensity Watt bike sessions
Happy with how the leg responded to the training this week, with the lifting sessions especially, I upped the intensity and weight.
This morning I hopped out to go for a run with the club, and I had some other nutters that braved the 8 degree temperatures with me, and luckily we stayed dry.

I see my run this morning as my first proper run back as I was able to maintain a fair pace and did it totally pain free.
Nutrition this week as been an up and down roller coaster as the cold weather has made it really hard to not want to snack on warm comfort food.

New Shoes was also on the menu this week, as a neutral runner that is on the heavier side ( I am not your 50kg runner) I prefer a more rigid shoe. I opted this time for the Brooks Ghost 15 and so far so good. The 12mm drop made the sore calves that I've been nursing better and I really enjoyed their responsiveness on the road this morning.
Those interested here is a review of the shoes.
This week coming see's the last week of my rehab program finishing it off with a Funrun On Saturday.
Happy Training
M
